The Super Jet filly has
begun her pre-training program completing the
1st week of a 4 week conditioning process before
being sent to Peter Moody’s stable at Caulfield.
Linc Sullivan, who is doing the pre-training has
said (just like the previous Breaker had said)
that she is a sensitive filly who can over react
to every move you make with her. Hence it’s important
to move slowly with her. The filly is still a
bit mentally immature but she is improving everyday
as she starts to get into the routine. He also
said that although she is not a big filly, she
is well put together with muscle definition and
particularly strong hindquarters. Linc expects
the filly will continue to improve as he keeps
the routine up to her.

The Super Jet filly arrived at Princess Park to
do her pre-training work for 4 weeks, before being
sent to Peter Moody's at Caulfield. I am hoping
that this filly will be able to get to the trials
in approx 10 weeks from now, however her progress
will be solely dependent on her ability to cope
with the increasing volume of work being given
to her. If the filly shows signs of needing a
break at any stage, Peter will more than likely
at that point, return the horse to the spelling
paddock to allow the horse to naturally mature.

The
Super Jet filly is spelling with the Super Jet
filly expected to go back into work in 2 weeks
with a view of at least getting to the trials
or perhaps the races by November/December.

Our
Super Jet filly is spelling after a 6 to 7 week
educational campaign. After spending 2 weeks back
in the paddock, she is already bucking her brand
off ready to go back to work, but at this stage
she will spell for another month.

Our
Super Jet (SJ) filly has been in training for
the last few weeks with Shane Bottomley in Cranbourne,
who broke the filly in some months ago and he
has now given her a refresher and is doing the
pre-training work required before she can go to
Peter Moody’s stable at Caulfield. Shane informed
me that the filly arrived at his stable in great
condition, but in her first few days she lost
some of that condition, probably as a result of
her change in environment.
After a couple
of days, SJ had picked up again and he was able
to work her normally. Shane also said that initially
SJ has been a little hard to ride as she is a
very sensitive filly, but as the days have rolled
by, she is improving all the time as she settles
into the routine of being a racehorse. He suspects
that at this early stage there is a mismatch between
the maturity of her physique as she is a powerful,
well muscled filly and her mental maturity as
she is still mentally immature. However these
things sort themselves out with time, routine
and handling and do not pose any real problems
once she is ready to race.
This feedback
highlights to me the need to get a refresher from
the Breaker as they tend to iron out any of the
handling irregularities before the horse hits
the big stable at Caulfield.
